Community Residents:
Today, Stellantis responded to a notice from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) regarding ducting in a specific area of the Mack paint shop. We wanted to share with you how we intend to address that issue.
The plan calls for the installation of additional ducting and equipment, which, once complete, will ultimately direct VOC emissions to the system that destroys volatile organic compounds. We have already begun design and procurement of components and electrical controls necessary to operate the system. We plan to begin work on the project later this month and anticipate completing installation by the end of the year.
Correcting this condition, as well as addressing odor complaints, remains our top priority.
We continue to make progress in addressing odor concerns. We have already taken a number of presumptive actions to address this issue, as has been shared with you previously, and are actively working with a third-party engineering firm to analyze some initial data and determine additional mitigation strategies.
Our Mack Assembly Community Hotline is now open to report any potential odor concerns directly to us. Operators will answer calls from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. After hours, calls will be directed to a voicemail system, which will send emails to our team to alert them that a message has been left. The purpose of calling the Stellantis hotline is to have your concerns addressed immediately and to continue gathering information in real-time that will assist us in taking corrective actions. The toll-free hotline number is (833) 310-2313.
As our focus remains on resolving these issues, we want to assure you that the Mack plant has been and continues to be in compliance with emission permit limits.
We appreciate our responsibility to comply to the fullest extent with the terms of our air permit, and are committed to working with EGLE to do so. We will continue to update you on our progress.
Thank you,
Michael Brieda Greg Rose
