100 Years in Detroit

1907

Former Jefferson Assembly Plant, the original headquarters of the Chalmers Motor Company, was founded.

1917

Chalmers merged with the Maxwell Company, forming the Maxwell-Chalmers Company.

1925

The Maxwell-Chalmers Company became Chrysler Corporation.

1935

One in every four passenger cars sold in the U.S. was a Chrysler product built at the Jefferson Assembly Plant.

1992

The first Jeep® Grand Cherokee rolled off the line at the new Jefferson North
Assembly Plant on Jan. 14.
