The most recent air monitoring data collected at the Detroit Assembly Complex – Mack plant monitoring station demonstrates that the air quality in the area continues to meet National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2).
In February 2024, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reduced the NAAQS level for Particulate Matter smaller than 2.5 microns (PM2.5) from 12 to 9 ug/m3. Annual average air concentrations throughout southeast Michigan slightly exceed the new NAAQS level, primarily due to the impact of June 2023 Canadian wildfires.
Ambient air volatile organic compound (VOC) testing continues to show that no VOCs are present in the air at concentrations above their respective Michigan Air Toxics Screening Levels.
