As the global auto industry moves toward electrification, Stellantis is positioning itself to be in the driver’s seat with an exciting strategy to deliver class-leading vehicles that offer advanced technology at affordable prices across our iconic brands.
To help our neighbors and customers better understand this shift, we’ll be reviewing some of the basics of electrification in upcoming editions of this newsletter.
To kick things off, here’s a breakdown of some of the new terms we’re using around vehicle electrification:
• Electrified Vehicle (EV) – A vehicle with electric propulsion that drives using electric power on its own or in conjunction with other fuels.
• Battery-Electric Vehicle (BEV) – A vehicle powered by an electric motor that does not have a gas engine. Under all conditions, it drives using electricity.
• Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) – A vehicle that features an Internal Combustion Engine and electric motor, but has a battery with higher storage capacity.
