High school students from the Alkebu-lan Village’s “Building Positive Leaders” program got a behind the scenes look at how Stellantis’ iconic vehicles come to life when they visited the Company’s Product Design Office and Design Dome at the Chrysler Technology Center in Auburn Hills on July 29. The tour was led by Ralph Gilles, Chief Design Officer and his team.

The students learned about careers in the arts, discussed the importance of design and styling in vehicle production and the role technology can play. They also had the chance to try their hand at molding a vehicle out of clay.

During a Q&A session with the students, Gilles, a renowned designer who has been with the company for more than 30 years, asked, “Who do you think created the songs that play in a Dodge commercial?”

The students were surprised to learn that it wasn’t a famous artist, but rather a Stellantis employee who works in the Design Office and has a background in digital art.

The students also were introduced to the Stellantis-sponsored annual “Drive for Design” competition that provides an opportunity for high school students to learn about exciting career opportunities in automotive design and win prizes.
