Stellantis is excited to partner with Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) to offer a first of its kind Mechatronics program right here in Detroit.

The collaboration between the company and school will create a highly skilled, accredited program filling a steep demand for jobs in robotics, controls, and automation. The cutting-edge program, which will be available through WCCCD’s Eastern Campus, will offer associates degrees in addition to certificates in specialized areas with large career growth potential.

The program is being created as a result of more than $10 million in donated automation equipment and installation services from Stellantis and partnering companies to create training for job opportunities in the automotive industry. An additional $10 million will be invested by the college for infrastructure and staffing to support the program, which is set to kickoff this year.

“WCCCD is proud to come together with Stellantis, an amazing partner, to provide pathways toward high-paying, in-demand careers that are essential to our region’s future — critical advanced manufacturing and robotics,” said Dr. Curtis Ivery, Chancellor, Wayne
County Community College District. “Uniquely, our program will be the only college-site Mechatronics Center in the U.S. available to the general public.”

Stellantis recently received a prestigious Benchmark Award from the Rainbow PUSH Coalition for its commitment to establishing the innovative program. The award was presented by the Reverend Jesse Jackson and Rainbow PUSH Chairman John A. Graves to Stellantis North America COO Mark Stewart.
